Dr. Jaques Reifman, lead researcher on the project, told Digital Trends. “The U.S. Army has developed algorithms that allows service members and the public at large to determine when and how much caffeine to consume so to optimize alertness at the desired times and duration. When we compared the optimization algorithm results against experimental studies, we found that the algorithm improved alertness and decreased caffeine use by as much as 65 percent.”
As noted, the algorithm was able to cut caffeine intake by up to 65 percent, while at the same time increasing alertness by up to 64 percent.
