Adding Germanium to the Selective Solder machine #ManufacturingMonday (video)

Happy Manufacturing Monday from Adafruit!

To keep our KISS-102 Selective Soldering machine working in peak condition we periodically add Germanium (Ge 32) to the pot of Sn100C solder alloy. Although constituting only a fraction of a percent of the total, this additive significantly decreases the oxidative properties of the molten metal, resulting in an incredible mirror-like appearance on the surface of the solder pot.

Learn more about our wave soldering machine and our solder of choice in this comprehensive blog post!
