A photographic history of blacks and Asians in England via Creative Boom:
Human Stories: Another England is an upcoming exhibition at London’s NOW Gallery that will bring to life the story of England’s Black and Asian heritage through a series of historical photographs. Working in partnership with Historic England and curated by Kaia Charles, it will weave together common threads of love, life and social shifts in modern English history.
A “melting pot” of rich archival imagery will give an insight into origins of diasporic migration, religion, home and working life, as well as unpick embedded racism that many were exposed to in the last century. In addition, newly commissioned works will interrogate concepts of multiculturalism, intersectionality and a sense of place through the lens of emerging, contemporary photographers and art collectives and new collectors.
