Clint Weisgerber in the College of Technology, Vincennes University, has created a detailed manual as an introduction to advanced manufacturing. The course centers around Adafruit’s wonderful Circuit Playground Express board.
He states:
The Circuit Playground Express (CPX for short) is a great way to get your feet wet in the world of automation, electronics, and programming.
The manual is very detailed on safety!
There are multiple projects featuring Microsoft MakeCode for programming.
He says:
While I do try and relate these labs back to the accompanying classroom material, this manual is fairly standalone. As is always the case, the classroom material is more the theory and history while the lab is more the reality or the actual…Play around with trying to hook things up to the CPX…It’s up to you to go and actually do something with the knowledge and experience you pick up in this class.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
