From the Forums: Dr. Strange Spell Disks (Costuming Props)

Adafruit Forums user joshuakane writes about an amazing project:

In the Movie Dr. Strange, when the characters invoke spells, there are some pretty amazing CGI effects that take place.  https://youtu.be/Wfbh3eHbakY?t=36s

I wanted to see if I could attempt to replicate it with a practical effect. Working with some friends, I believe we have come pretty close, all of it is powered by some pretty nifty Adafruit products.

To complete this I purchased the following items
Adafruit Pro Trinket – 5V 16MHz https://www.adafruit.com/product/2000
Adafruit NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip 144 LED – 1m Black – BLACK https://www.adafruit.com/product/1506
4-pin JST SM Plug + Receptacle Cable Set https://www.adafruit.com/product/578
16mm Panel Mount Momentary Pushbutton – Black https://www.adafruit.com/product/1505

I also modified and printed the following Box Enclosure for the Trinket Pro from Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3055499

My friend helped me laser cut the Spell Mandala

This is how the project box and Trinket looked when they were completed
