Handheld Text-Based Adventure Gaming with Quest Smith @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi
Remember adventure games? Video games where text description and input move that game along. It all takes place in your head, so even though the games are primitive, and from the pre-history of video games, they can evoke worlds as big as your imagination.
After seeing a similar device, Bekir Dağ decided to build a handheld device that would print out the text adventure as it is being played, and Quest Smith was born. The article includes all the information you need to build your own.
A Raspberry Pi Zero W fits snugly into the body alongside a thermal printer, a battery, and various tactile buttons. The battery is powered by a solar panel mounted on the outer shell, and all components are connected to a TP4056 board that allows the battery to power the Pi.
