Adam Savage was pining for a tiny hammer he used to have at Industrial Light and Magic for precision adjusting and leveling stock in a vise. So, he decided to fabricate his own “little thwacker” out of a piece of koa wood and brass round stock.
He ended up having trouble, and even breaking the handle — which I thought all along was perilously thin. He fixed it, but I still think he may end up building a new, thicker handle. But it is a light-use tool, so who knows. It sure is a lovely little thing.
