Women in horror movies haven’t always had the best representation. If you want your horror with a side of social discourse hunker down with one (or 12) of these horror movies that should pass the Bechdel test. Increasingly, horror films are proving themselves to be a perfect genre for social commentary, to understand the Other rather than demonize them.
So in the spirit of Halloween, we’ve compiled an exhaustive (though undoubtedly incomplete) guide to the best feminist and women-centric horror films of all time. But our comprehensive list comes with a million caveats.
