Black Girls CODE 2020 Campaign

#BlackGirlsCODETheWorld campaign; a celebration of the people who are embedded in the fabric of BGC’s community and an opportunity for individuals to partner with us in empowering our #futuretechbosses to become innovators in STEM, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures.

Founded in 2011, Black Girls CODE (BGC) was built on the pillars of empowerment and education and is dedicated to leveling the playing field for girls of color in STEM. Through the organization’s tech education-focused programming and initiatives—designed for young women between the ages of 7 to 17—BGC aims to inspire youth to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures.

Black Girls CODE is on a mission to change the narrative surrounding racial and gender diversity in STEM and create safe spaces where Black girls can see themselves reflected in tech innovation. BGC strives to empower girls to go from consumers to creators and use technology as an avenue to be agents of change.

Tues-1

Today is #GivingTuesday on Adafruit . In the makers/electronics/engineering community we all have something we can give, our time, our talents, our code, our designs, and today we’re celebrating companies and organizations that help make this happen. We’re also celebrating organizations and people that could use your help to keep their efforts going.

We’ll be posting all day with some #GivingTuesday ideas to consider, post yours and we’ll help get the word out.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.
