5 Lessons Learned About Miniature Painting

In this video, miniature painter, Dana Howl, shares fives important lessons she’s learned about her craft. A lot of this is geared towards those who paint professionally on YouTube, but they can apply to casual hobby painters, too.

The one lesson I resonated with the most was the first one, about cultivating solid work habits rather than goals. Dana uses what she calls “hobby streak,” where she has to paint a certain amount of time, no matter what, EVERY day. I did this for over a year (30 minutes of painting every day). You can apply this to any type of work effort. Even if you only spend a half-hour a day working on something, if you do it every single day, you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish over time.
