A year later, ASK AN ENGINEER broadcasts live from the factory, mask-free too! @adafruit
We’ve been working on site at the Adafruit factory in NYC from the start of the pandemic and every day since, at first making PPE / electronics that were needed, then as an essential manufacturing business with smaller teams, then with more staff, with specific protocols to keep our teams safe (adafruit.com/opensafely). Up until now, we did our live shows from home (no masks, we were home), and then would go in after the show or before (masks, all protocols, etc.).
With vaccines now and our teams past 2nd dose / full vaccinated, we can do more.
Last night was the first time in over a year we were able to broadcast live from the Adafruit factory, and not wear mask(s), the persons on site were all fully vaccinated and it another step towards being able to do more and keep everyone around each other safe.
During business hours, we still stick to all protocols (masks, gloves, distance, stagger shifts, filters, air flow, sanitizing). However we’re now able to do our shows back on site again as all the folks around during the shows are fully vaccinated. We will looking at the CDC guidance which may be updated soon, and continue to be safe AND get back to being able to do more together.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7:30pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat and our Discord!
Let’s end this pandemic, so get vaccinated!
