Breathtaking Image of the Milky Way’s Mysterious Core
From NASA, here is a new image of the center of our galaxy that was created by bringing together data from almost 400 observations from the past two decades made by the Chandra X-ray orbiting observatory and the MeerKAT telescope in South Africa. Here’s more from Science Focus:
The image shows threads of superheated gas and magnetic fields that stretch out from the centre of the galaxy. The different colours show different X-rays of different energies in orange, green, blue and purple, while the radio data from MeerKAT is shown in lilac and grey.
