The Deodorant Stick That Launched a Game Modeling Revolution #scifisunday
On the Instagram page for the print magazine, Wargames, Soldiers, and Strategy, they posted a picture of perhaps the most influential model in tabletop sci-fi gaming history. It’s a grav tank model for the tabletop sci-fi wargame Warhammer 40,000, made out of a Lady Speed Stick deodorant bottle.
The model was scratch-built by 40K creator, Rick Priestly, and appeared in a 1987 issue of White Dwarf magazine. This model inspired a generation of gamers (including yours truly) to begin building their own models.
