It always seemed like being a mail carrier was one of the few modern-day occupations that let you stay active. These mail jumpers, however, are next level! Fun story from Atlas Obscura.
The town is the first and only one in the United States where jumpers deliver mail from a passenger-carrying mailboat, a tradition that began in 1916 when the primitive roads were too difficult to traverse. It has continued uninterrupted, May through September, for the last 105 years.

Fun fact, dungeons and dragons was invented in Lake Geneva. Right infront of where these mail boats launch from is a engraving of a D20 commemorating Gary Gygax. Also there’s a huuuggeee D20 convention held intown every year called ‘GaryCon’ where tonnnnns of people make the ‘pilgrimage’ to sit in a old Playboy Club Hotel and campaign for a weekend. It’s pretty rad 🙂
