When you just need one button, then you need the Adafruit NeoKey Trinkey. I can see a lot of use cases, including making it mute your audio, run a macro, or simply relocate your Escape key. The board comes populated with an RGB NeoPixel and a SAMD21 that can easily run CircuitPython or Arduino code, so it’s capable of doing a lot!
It’s specifically designed to allow you to add a Cherry-MX compatible mechanical switch and keycap (purchased separately). Or you could just use the on-board capacitive sense pad. Just slide the board into an unused USB port on your computer and it will power up and can be programmed.
