Pimoroni Ltd (founded in 2012) has grown into one of the best known manufacturers and suppliers of educational, industrial, and hobbyist electronics in the UK with over 100 distributors worldwide.
Our state of the art PCB production line allows us to manufacture precision electronics with a high degree of agility. It is optimised for quick turnaround of production jobs and can be quickly reconfigured for smaller R&D runs during development as needed.
As well as developing our own products we have worked with the likes of Google, Microsoft, and Sheffield University to create bespoke technical solutions and products that fulfil their needs.
We’re proud to provide employment to forty staff in Sheffield with roles in engineering, creative, administration, production, and logistics.
It’s a privilege to be part of the manufacturing heritage in Sheffield, in the north of the UK. As well as the vibrant creative and digital scene that’s developed in the city, it’s an excellent city to live in. We manufacture all of our own products in-house.
Pimoroni stands for Pirate, Monkey, Robot, Ninja (Pi-Mo-Ro-Ni) and sounds like the name of an expensive Italian lager. It’s pronounced Pih-mo-row-knee. You’ll see the pirate (and his friends) pop up throughout our branding.
What are “Maker Deals” ? These are companies and people that do electronics, art, engineering, or just something interesting our team wants to spotlight using our Adafruit megaphone – these are not sponsored in any way, we do these each year and yah – some people will point out or dunk on us that we’re promoting our “competitors” but we do not see it that way. Post yours on social with #makerdeals or email’em to [email protected] , we’ll be posting all weekend through Monday. See last year’s “Welcome to #ADADEALS 2020 sales and more from maker companies that are NOT Adafruit” too … On Tuesday we’ll have our GivingTuesday stuff on the blog and socials.
Adafruit publishes a wide range of writing and video content, including interviews and reporting on the maker market and the wider technology world. Our standards page is intended as a guide to best practices that Adafruit uses, as well as an outline of the ethical standards Adafruit aspires to. While Adafruit is not an independent journalistic institution, Adafruit strives to be a fair, informative, and positive voice within the community – check it out here: adafruit.com/editorialstandards
Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7:30pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat and our Discord!
