It’s Saturday night, so it’s time to catch up on writing, shooting some video, email, and a bunch of other things (getting some art, and photos up now too). Over the Black Friday to Cyber Monday weekend I loaded up music I’ve wanted to listen to for the last 18 months while I was shipping and doing other things. Back in the day when Adafruit was an apartment company and it was only Limor and I during the busy times, I would load up music and audio books, one holiday season I listened to the entire Foundation series on audio book, it was about a month+ of audio. A little tough to slog through, but added some music once and awhile to jam out to for the late night shipping push we’d do.
The music stopped for the last 18 months for me, music available, it just wasn’t able to be heard by me at least, couldn’t. The music scores and things we do at Adafruit stopped too, there wasn’t melodies I wanted to work on, or songs I wanted to make for a video with our team. In the last 60 days or so, the music started coming back, our teams are all vaccinated, we’re safe(r), we’ve been doing really good, even with tragedy and loss over the last year, we kept going – and for the first time since the start of this I caught my foot tapping to a new tune, or jingle. The music started to come back, and wanting to listen to music came back too.
One of the things I did was loading up all the music from Seal, beginning of his career to now, and then repeats of some of the faves over and over. I just finished it – WOW, and wanted to see what he was up to – checked out Twitter, then Instagram (inspirational quotes and motivation there), and then in a cool cosmic coincidence…
SEAL JUST JOINED TIKTOK 2 DAYS AGO! There are two videos so far, looking forward to whatever is there.
The 3 most played songs as I re-listened to were: Padded Cell, Killer, and Waiting for you.
I must admit that I, I thought about the other way
But I live and fight another daySo many people like me lie sedated
Inside my padded cell, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
I’m in a padded cell, oh oh oh oh oh oh ohI’m a million different people living inside of me
Oh yeah, oh yeah
I’m a million different people living inside of me
It’s the loneliness that’s the killer
So you want
To be free
To live your life
The way you wanna be
Will you give
If we cry?
Will we live
Or will we die?
Oh
There has been no one brighter than you
I can’t deny these things that I do
Feels like the world’s at stake ’cause
I have been waiting
I have been waiting for you
I have seen no light brighter than you
What a career, what range, so thankful got to live in a time when Seal is STILL getting out music. I can think back to each decade of my life and there was Seal playing, glad to be back.
So if you got packages from Adafruit during the last 10 years, there’s a good chance a bunch of them had Seal playing while getting shipped. Thank you Seal for being the soundtrack for so many things.
