The Amiga was awesome but the consumer was gouged by high priced third party peripherals, a community that drove people to update or be obsolete and that cost money because they automatically put that audience into another economy that they weren’t use to paying for which is why I think it lost its audience and Commodore went bankrupt because no one bought enough of their computers one Christmas and Commodore couldn’t pay the bankers.
Amiga Basic was too slow to work on a 7 or 14 Mhz machine and all of a sudden you don’t really have a standard for the programming community to share because they were using different languages to program that beast. Abacus Books also came out with a list of books on different aspects of the machine which just made it too complicated for an audience use to plain vanilla basic and a smaller skill set.
