Making a Gorgeous Guilloche Pendant Using a Rose Engine
In this unnarrated, “chill” episode of the amazing clockwork maker channel, Clickspring, Chris fashions an amazing fine silver and jade enamel pendant for his wife as an anniversary present.
Chris etches a guilloche pattern (guilloche being a decorative technique for creating twisting, repetitive patterns) into a piece of silver. He uses a rose engine to accomplish this. Rose engine, you say? Yes, a rose engine is a kind of specialized lathe that uses rosettes or cam-like disks to etch patterns. You can learn more about them here.
