Constance Baker Motley Black History Month 2022 #BlackHistoryMonth
Constance Baker Motley served as a Judge, Chief Judge and Senior Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, as well as the Borough President of Manhattan and was the first Black woman elected to the New York State Senate. Constance Baker Motley was also the first female attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and in this role became the first Black woman to argue at the Supreme Court.
Constance Baker Motley is a major figure and key legal strategist of the Civil Rights movement, as the writer of the original Brown v Board complaint and helping to desegregate schools, buses and lunch counters.
