I was unaware of the cycloidal drive until recently. A cycloidal drive is a speed reduction mechanism that relies on an eccentric disc. “The input shaft drives an eccentric bearing that in turn drives the cycloidal disc in an eccentric, cycloidal motion” [Wikipedia].
