Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Wright.
Chasity, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I literally fell into Aerospace and technology. I enlisted in the USAF in 2002 where I was slated to be a telephone helper climbing poles etc. I hurt my knee really bad in the warrior course and couldn’t complete my fear of heights test. Due to my high scores instead of sending me home, the USAF gave me a new job – Satellite Communications, Space Systems, Ballistics, Telemetry, Missiles = Aerospace Engineering lol. Between my Junior and Senior year at Clark Atlanta University, I completed basic training, tech school, and came back with the confidence I needed to know that I was intelligent, smart, and very capable of success. Chasity is recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as a 2018 TCX Fellow, a 2020 Ada Lovelace Nominee, and a member of the inaugural class for the 2020 Google For Startups Atlanta Founders Academy and the 2020 NASDAQ Mentorship Circle for Black Founders & Entrepreneurs.
We can start there…
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some ups and downs as expected. Tech generally is a safe bet and that’s all relative to your network, capabilities, and ability to deliver exceptional service.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7:30pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat and our Discord!
