World Autism Awareness Day #WorldAutismAwarenessDay

Happy World Autism Awareness Day! Today we are celebrating those with autism, their loved ones, educators, friends, and anyone who wants to encourage autism awareness and acceptance within their communities.

Sesame Street (as always) is on the forefront of inclusion and celebrating differences and we love how they have highlighted children with autism on their program over the years. Sesame Street in Communities also has a bunch of resources for families with an autistic child or family member.

In the below video, we meet the character Julia, Elmo’s friend who has autism. Through play, Big Bird learns about Julia and her autism. He eventually sees that the more we listen and celebrate each other’s differences, the more we can connect and understand each other, making our communities so much stronger.
