Posted this week by Gazelle Automations, comes an animation based off the question: “What if Filmation had made episodes of The Next Generation?”

The styling to Star Trek: The Animated Series (TAS) is perfect – down to the music, camera angles and how the characters react. The voices are based on the episode Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Best of Both Worlds, Pt. 1.

Some of the comments in the Twitter thread of note:

  • Use of pink, as in the Borg Ship and purple Borg outfits, was in line with TAS as the director was reportedly color blind.
  • A Kzinti is at the helm (see this episode)
  • The “run at the camera” angle
  • The turbolift doors left open for no reason

The original clip. You’ll note the camera angles are not exact, that’s in line with the limited animation Filmation did to cut costs.
