On this “Ask Adam” segment, Adam Savage is asked about the usefulness of the Imperial and Metric ruler that he had tattooed on his forearm years ago.
The answer is a qualified yes. It’s not super accurate, but it comes in handy in verifying the outside diameters of tubes, quickly sorting nut and bolts, and the like.
But where Adam says it really comes in handy is when he’s on a plane, or at home at night, or otherwise without a ruler and he’s designing something. The arm ruler lets him quickly do dimensional calculations.
