An Astrophysicist Lists Her 5 Most Anticipated Targets for the James Webb Space Telescope
In this installment of Dr. Becky, Oxford astrophysicist, Dr. Becky Smethurst, identifies the five astronomical targets she’s most excited about seeing the JWST explore.
These targets include TRAPPIST-1, a 7-planet system near the constellation of Aquarius, where all of the planets orbit their sun inside what would be the orbital distance of Mercury in our solar system, Erendel, the most distant known single star, Cosmic Redshift 7, a very strange object with a weird spectrum of light that can’t be explained and may be a direct-collapse black hole, and the galactic center of the Milky Way.
