Todd at Project Farm has now turned his tool testing obsession to hex bit socket sets.
He tested 15 Brands: Pittsburgh, Husky, DeWalt, Kobalt, Capri Tools, Tekton, Craftsman, Neiko Impact, Carbyne, Sunex, Lexivon, Master Hex, Neiko, Gearwrench, Mixpower. The Hex Bit sockets were tested for proper size, maximum torque load until failure or damage, and maximum load before rounding fasteners.
And the winners are…
For under $20, Todd liked the Kobalt set. For impact-rated tools, he recommends the Sunex ($40). The Neiko set also performed extremely well at $46 for the set.
