eBay To Launch Live Shopping Beta @adafruit @johnedgarpark #ebay
eBay has announced their first foray into product livestreaming, called eBay Live.
eBay today announces the launch of eBay Live, a dedicated shopping platform that gives people a new way to browse and buy products in a live, interactive environment.
This type of product livestreaming has been popular on sites like Alibaba’s Taobao Live — shopping livestreams are reported to have reached over 30% of China’s population in recent years — and has been likened to QVC for the modern era.
Adafruit has run the JP’s Product Pick of the Week show directly from the product page on Tuesdays at 4pm Eastern weekly since September, 2020. Viewers can receive special product discounts during the stream.
eBay Live is currently geared towards the collectables market and will kick off with a trading card event on June 22nd. Users will need to download the eBay app to participate.
A similar effort was announced back in 2016 by Kickstarter, but it is unclear when or if this will go into full launch.
