we do an EYE ON NPI video each week, its a partnership with @digikey where we check out whats up over at https://www.digikey.com/new – but here’s a hint: we came up with the series because we were hitting that page once a week anyways to find new sensors, motor drivers, and modules. this week we featured the Ablicinc S-35710 (https://www.digikey.com/short/z952dntf) and it turned out to be a chip that was already on our list: a “low power timer” that can go down to ~0.3uA while counting out 1 second to 194 days for ultra-low-power interval use. the interval is set over I2C, all you need is a 32khz crystal. this QT breakout has all the fixin’s: optional power and output LED, breakouts plus QT cables, and optional p-channel FET switch for high-side power switching – by default its more of an enable-pin controller. this should be a great solution to turn any project into an ultra-low-power kit.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
