This recent video from Cheddar touches on some of the lesser known aspects of New York’s most iconic building. The video features lots of great old footage and photos of the building’s contstruction. I did not realize the spire is hit by lightning an average of 25x per year! Yowzer. The video also breaks down a lot of the fictions and mythologies surrounding the Empire State Building, including some interesting old rumor’s about blimps and German businessmen.
It was once the tallest building in the world. Today, its presence on New York City’s skyline remains unmatched. The nearly century-old Empire State Building is an intricate ecosystem, having undergone a complete modernization both inside and out.
