Voyager 2 launched August 20, 1977 and Voyager 1 launched September 5, 1977 – that’s exactly 45 years today! Space.com published 2 pieces celebrating each probe which set me on my own space adventure, clicking all over the Voyager page, which features a click-through mission timeline, an interactive tour of the Voyager spacecraft and diagram of instruments and so much more!
While Voyager 1 focused on Jupiter and Saturn, Voyager 2 visited both those planets and also ventured to Uranus and Neptune. Voyager 2’s mission to those last two planets would be humanity’s only visit in the 20th century.
