NEW PRODUCTS THIS WEEK
Adafruit Qwiic / Stemma QT 5 Port Hub
Qwiic, or STEMMA QT, is a very efficient way to quickly prototype an idea, but a lot of Qwiic/Stemma QT driver boards only have one port, and devices have two ports but that’s only good for chaining. Maybe you want to reduce your I2C line capacitance by having a star formation instead of a looooong chain. Or maybe its just easier for your mechanical layout to have them closer to a central point.
Assembled Adafruit 0.56″ 4-Digit 7-Segment Display – w/ I2C Backpack QT
What’s better than a single LED? Lots of LEDs! A fun way to make a small display is to use an 8×8 matrix or a 4-digit 7-segment display. Matrices like these are ‘multiplexed’ – so to control all the seven-segment LEDs you need 14 pins. That’s a lot of pins, and there are driver chips like the MAX7219 that can control a matrix for you but there’s a lot of wiring to set up and they take up a ton of space. Here at Adafruit we feel your pain! After all, wouldn’t it be awesome if you could control a matrix without tons of wiring? That’s where these adorable LED matrix backpacks come in. We have them in two flavors – a mini 8×8 and a 4-digit 0.56″ 7-segment. They work perfectly with the matrices we stock in the Adafruit shop and make adding a bright little display trivial.
Adafruit WCH CH9102F Friend – USB to Serial Converter
Long gone are the days of parallel ports and serial ports. Now the USB port reigns supreme! But USB is hard, and you just want to transfer your everyday serial data from a microcontroller to computer. What now? Enter the Adafruit CH9102F Friend, a version of our popular USB-Serial ‘friend’ breakouts that uses the affordable (and available) CH9102F – a ‘near pin-compatible’ to the CP2102N.
Adafruit ENS160 MOX Gas Sensor – Sciosense CCS811 Upgrade – STEMMA QT / Qwiic
*sniff* *sniff* … do you smell that? No need to stick your nose into a carton of milk anymore, you can build a digital nose with the ENS160 Gas Sensor, a fully integrated MOX gas sensor. This is a very fine air quality sensor from the sensor experts at ScioSense, with I2C interfacing so you don’t have to manage the heater and analog reading of a MOX sensor. It combines multiple metal-oxide sensing and heating elements on one chip to provide more detailed air quality signals.
