Judith Heumann was TIME Magazine’s 100 Women of the Year for 1977. Forty plus years later and she is still making an impact. She is a renowned advocate for disability rights and many people consider her the mother of the movement. In 1970 she sued the New York Board of Education for discrimination.

Throughout her career she has served many roles. From sit-ins to the White House and the World Bank, Heumann has worked towards fair treatment and regulation.

In 2020 she published her memoir Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist, and the young adult version Rolling Warrior. Heumann was also featured in the film Crip Camp.
