Many years ago, when I read the first science fiction story involving a space elevator, I had no idea such a concept was technically feasible. I thought it was pure fiction.
But it isn’t. Engineers are actively working on advancing and discovering the technologies needed to make space elevators a reality. As you might imagine, the cost reduction of getting things into space via such an elevator would be massive.
In this Anton Petrov video, he looks at the concepts behind such an elevator, where the technology stands, and what needs to happen to make space elevators a reality.
