Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy Arranged for a 1980s Synth #MusicMonday
For many of us, the our only association with ballet is The Nutcracker. Classical repertory versions and new takes and wild subversions like Mark Morris’ The Hard Nut are a holiday tradition for some. The score has pieces of classical music that can be recognized all over the world. Here’s a take on the iconic “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” played on Synclavier 9600 system, from Michael Whalen:
Michael Whalen creates a virtual “orchestra” with his Synclavier 9600 system. Drawing on the orginal score by Tchaikovsky, MW played all the parts while adapting samples and doing sound design for each part.
