Can You Write Programs for the Commodore 64 Using ChatGPT?
It seems like every day we’re learning some new, impressive application for the ChatGPT artificial intelligence program.
On Retro Hack Shack, Aaron wanted to know if ChatGPT could be used to write simple programs for the Commodore 64. He asked it to write programs in BASIC and Assembly Language.
The results were mixed. The AI did generate BASIC code, along with Commenting and programming notes, but none of it was executable without some tweaks here and there and nothing was too complicated or sophisticated.
For Assembly, it admitted that task was over its head, but offered some code examples and additional resources.
From this exercise one can clearly see the very near future potential of this technology to generate far more sophisticated, ready–to-run code.
