Python 3.11 ported to older machines/OSes with WebAssembly to C compiler #Python @turbolent
w2c2 translates WebAssembly modules to C. What does that provide?
Older machines like early Macs, Windows XP boxes, NeXT computers, Sun Workstations, etc. all have C compilers. Anything translated can then be compiled on older machines!
Turbolent has ported Python 3.11 to many of these new (old) operating systems using w2c2 including Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X Server 1.0 on PowerPC, OPENSTEP 4.2 and NeXSTEP 3.3 on Sparc.
w2c2’s WebAssembly System Interface (WASI) implementation also supports Haiku, Windows, and older Mac OS X releases
This opens up a whole new software source for older machines starting with modern Python programs but also anything that generates WebAssembly.
