Having just returned from a trip to Ireland (to where I would love to be transported back to by magical means), The Wizard Children of Finn by Mary Tannen looks especially intriguing.
There’s also something so appealing about this type of narrative nowadays, where it seems children have less and less time to wander/wonder/create their own adventures. It’s nice to sit inside a narrative in which kids lead the way.
In the realm of imagination, the unexpected can prevail. Just as elderly ladies can out-detect the professionals and lone geniuses circumvent known physics, young people can save the world. Or at least save the day. Consider the following five books in which young people do their thing.
