Ostensibly this extension cord was originally designed to allow PlayStation game players to be able to sit across the room from their game system, but what we are using it for is to connect to PS controllers and accessories without soldering directly to cables or cutting the connectors off. Since the connector is proprietary, it isn’t like you can get a socket or plug from your local electronics shop.
