Retrieving data from a faulty Seagate drive with woodworking tools #Computers #Repair
John Graham-Cumming built a gaming computer but had the dreaded WIndows Blue Screen of Death after a few months.
I quickly realized that only one of the Seagate Firecuda 530 SSDs was detected. After some unscrewing and experimenting with the two drives in the two slots I found that one of them was dead.
Some judicious squeezing of the drive with a clamp repaired, temporarily, the issue, allowing the data to be copied off. And the faulty chip was later repaired with an SMD hot air gun.
