WipperSnapper Updates Wednesday: UART Support, Device Auto-Configuration, and New Sensors!

This past month, a lot has been going on with our Adafruit.io platform and WipperSnapper firmware – let’s take a look:

🪄 Coming soon: Device Auto-Configuration!

Tired of tediously adding all your favorite sensors to a new WipperSnapper device one by one? With autoconfig, you’ll be able to clone a device’s component configuration in a single click, and recreate that configuration on another device instantly! Great for setting up multiple identical devices, following Learn Guides with less work, and sharing setups with friends. After release, we’ll be adding Magic Config for all of our Adafruit boards, providing instant configuration of all built-in components. For full-featured boards like the Funhouse, this is 10+ sensors configured in a snap!

🚌 New Release: UART Components

We’ve launched support for a UART component type in WipperSnapper Firmware and on Adafruit.io. This means devices using the UART protocol, like the PMS5003 Air Quality Sensor, can be integrated into your no-code Adafruit IO projects. Integration with our Ultimate GPS modules is now possible and coming soon!
