The BBC Arhives, especially the Tomorrow’s World segments, are diamonds in the rough, cluttered landscape that is the internet. We love this September 1969 clip where Derek Cooper shows viewers the Moog Synthesizer, which Robert Moog invented in 1964. Anyone who listens to or makes electronic music knows how important Moog synthesizers were, especially in those early days.
One of the most famous examples of Moog music is the Wendy Carlos album Switched-On Bach, which just so happens to be a personal favorite of mine (that is until my husband played it nonstop for 3 weeks last January). The BBC visited Wendy Carlos in February 1970 to talk to her about making the album using her Moog synthesizer (video here and above).
