KicADSR: First Project Using KICAD and using SMD parts #KiCad
AUDIODiWHY Is switching from Eagle CAD to KiCad and decided to redesign Rene Schmidt’s “Fastest ADSR in the West” Eurorack module.
I originally laid this post’s project with a lot of through hole resistors and whatnot, a 3 board design, but Elton from Otter Mods challenged me to use more SMD.
KiCADSR uses through hole (or THT as Kicad calls it) components here and there, for instance, the 555 timer IC. Why? I didn’t have SMD 555’s in my junk box.
Being afraid of my own shadow I set my bench up for SMD but continued to use through hole for a lot projects.
You don’t need a microscope for everything. True. I have bad eyesight but can work with 1206 sized parts, for the most part only wearing reading glasses.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7:30pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat and our Discord!
