Movie Web’s Favorite Horror Scores from Films and TV
It’s easy to get lost in the traditional Halloween playlist. While they may have old favorites that bring back memories of trick-or-treating and pumpkin picking, it gets a little old. Freshen up your Halloween tunes with some horror scores.Movie Web shares their favorites.
What does horror sound like? Music is an essential part of film, and when it comes to horror films, a good film score can be used to better the experience, enhance the scare factor, and ultimately frighten the audience beyond what they can actually see. Horror is known for its heavy use of sound effects, but music can vary in various shapes and forms that when applied well, icons can be born. It’s hard to imagine the shower scene without the strings section stabbing our ears, or Michael Myers slowly approaching without Carpenter’s beat announcing he’s getting closer. Scores are in inherent part of horror culture, like masks, weapons, and final girls.
