The best ship in science fiction is unquestionably the TARDIS. The flagship of the Doctor Who TV series can go anywhere in space and time, it is either infinite or just unthinkably big inside, and it’s powered by a captured black hole called the Eye of Harmony. Its hexagonal console is be housed in a control room that can look like anything from an enormous Victorian bedroom, to a hyper-modern neutral space filled with roundels, to a coral-like organic frame. TARDIS components include a time rotor, a chameleon arch, and an absence detector. Here are some other fascinating science fiction ships, from bookbud:
Anne McCaffrey’s classic collection of stories features one of the most complex spaceships in sci-fi. Helva isn’t just a ship, she’s a cyborg — a human born with severe disabilities who has been integrated into a scout ship, becoming its brain. Helva discovers that she can sing beautifully as the brainship, and forms a strong bond with the ship’s assigned brawn, a man named Jennan who appreciates her singing and comes to love her as a person. Helva’s tales span her relationship with Jennan and her subsequent partners as she travels through space.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
