The Flight Proximity Tracker lets you have your departure board in your living room. It is like having a window to the aerial world, where you can watch as flights take off and land, all from the comfort of your home.
The project is powered by the Matrix Portal S3, programmed with CircuitPython, which fetches data from FlightAware’s AeroAPI, a source for flight information. The real-time data comes to life on two 64×64 LED matrix displays, just like an airport’s departure board.
The display showcases scrolling text with flight identifiers and airline icons. It provides a detailed snapshot of each flight, including its origin and destination.
