led neopixel shoelaces

Check out the latest tutorial from Erin St Blaine: Spice up your boots with custom animated NeoPixel shoelaces. Sync them to each other wirelessly using the free and open-source WLED software, and then take them out dancing in the great outdoors. Your shoes will stay connected to each other even when you’re out of reach of WiFi.

WLED’s access-point mode keeps your shoes connected and in sync. You can still connect to your shoes and control the animation modes with your smart phone, even when you’re lost in the desert or deep in the woods.

This is an easy project that requires just a little soldering. You’ll need to do some software configuration, but no coding. WLED gives you dozens of customizable animation modes and color palettes to choose from. Make a playlist of super cool animations with just a few taps on your phone.

Content Summary:
– The guide provides instructions on how to create glowing shoelaces using NeoPixel LED strips and WLED software for wireless syncing and control.
– It includes steps for hardware assembly, driver installation, WLED setup, and configuring WiFi and LED preferences for syncing the shoelaces.

Adafruit Products Used:
– The QT Py microcontroller is used as the brain of the project, connecting to NeoPixel strips and handling the WLED software. [QT Py – SAMD21 Dev Board with STEMMA QT](https://www.adafruit.com/product/4600)
– NeoPixel strips are used to replace traditional shoelaces, providing customizable and animated lighting effects. [Adafruit NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip – Black 30 LED](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1460)
– The NeoPixel BFF is a companion board for QT Py that makes it easy to connect and control NeoPixel strips. [NeoPixel BFF Add-on For QT Py](https://www.adafruit.com/product/5066)
