“How Film Is Made For Your Camera” 1950s Eastman Kodak Short Movie
PeriscopeFilm recently shared this 1950s clip of an Eastman Kodak informational short about film manufacturing. Even though the clip is incomplete, it has some really great factory footage. There’s also something so soothing about movie clips from this era (maybe it’s the background music? the narration?)
Made by Eastman Kodak, this short educational film explains how film is manufactured. (Unfortunately our print is incomplete.) The film begins with animation of a roll of 127 film with the familiar yellow Kodak protective coating. Animation shows the layers of the film including the gelatine overcoating, silver emulsion, base and backing.
