The Flamethrower Organ: A Pyrophone from Look Mum No Computer #MusicMonday
Wonderfully creative musical instruments are par for the course over at Look Mum No Computer. In the case of the Flamethrower Organ, they’ve created a reinvention of a strange historical instrument called a pyrophone. The pyrophone uses fire pumped through tubes of various sizes to create notes. Here’s more from Look Mum No Computer:
Initially i planned to get an old church organ off eBay (they go for next to nothing!) but i did some tests with a single organ pipe and because of their makeup of tin/lead. IT MELTED.
…
So i got out some blunt files and a hack saw and made some pipes out of copper!
