The Great Search: Classic LM7805 TO-220 5V Regulator #TheGreatSearch #DigiKey @DigiKey @adafruit

This Great Search is a big throwback to every electrical engineer’s first power supply. The LM7805 is a mainstay regulator, available in TO-220 package, as well as TO-92 and SMT.

Today, we found a social media post of someone repairing a SEGA Master System where they needed to replace the LDO.

Let’s look for a drop-in replacement with 1A or more of current. Also, maybe we’ll peek at some alternative products that can provide more current output or lower drop-out.
